Matthew 10:39

"He who has found his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake shall find it.

 Today's Thought:

"The love of our neighbor is the only door out of the dungeon of self"

Self-concern is a prison indeed! The more we think about ourselves, out needs and our desires, the more incarcerated we become. The reason is that we were created to share. Happiness is in interdependence, not independence. When we contradict God's plan, we get moody and down on ourselves, others, and life in general.
The door is the prison of our own making must be thrown open to the world filled with people who need us. A bad mood is dispelled when we get involved in listening to others and helping them to solve the problems they  are facing. We can feel badly about our own situations until we are confronted with what others are enduring.
When we are in the dungeon of self-pity, we need a fresh flow of grace from Jesus. But He usually does not come to us in our prison of self. He calls us to join Him in what He is doing. If we want God, we must go where He is- to people in need, those who suffer, the lonely, the frustrated.
Think of three  people who need you today. Call, write a letter, email, text or go see them. You need them more than they need you, They are the door out of your self-imposed prison. Two things will  always occur: You will bring joy to them and you will receive joy from the Lord for them. you, most of all will be Blessed!
